Former CID Chief N. Sanjay Suspended by Government

The state government has imposed suspension on former CID Chief N. Sanjay. The government issued the suspension order after the Vigilance report revealed that he was involved in corruption and had played a role in several illegal activities. During the tenure of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, Sanjay acted arbitrarily. He played a key role in filing cases against Jagan’s opponents and arresting them on false charges. Particularly, he showed excessive enthusiasm in registering several cases against the Margadarshi organization, which was founded by the late Ramoji Rao. He even organized media conferences related to the Margadarshi case, violating the rules that prohibit discussing ongoing investigations with the media. Not only did he hold media conferences here, but he also conducted them in Hyderabad and even in Delhi, attempting to tarnish the organization’s image among the public. He had collaborated with the then former Additional AG Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy in such actions.

After the government changed, an investigation is underway into his corrupt activities. The Vigilance inquiry revealed that during his tenure as the Director General of the Fire Services, although he did not follow the regulations, he played an active role in paying money to his shell companies, violating the rules. Based on these findings, the government has issued suspension orders and directed him not to leave the headquarters during the suspension period. Overall, the coalition government is taking action, albeit belatedly, against police officers who acted arbitrarily and beyond the regulations.
