Even after the YSRCP lost power, the influence of Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy—who acted as the all-in-one minister during the YSRCP regime—continues to dominate the party. Currently, he is considered the supreme authority within YSRCP. With former key leader Vijayasai Reddy resigning from the party and the prominent Peddi Reddy family from Rayalaseema entangled in legal issues and going to jail, Sajjala now holds an undisputed position in the party.A section of the YSRCP insiders claim that Sajjala is not only in a commanding position within the party but also receiving unexpected support from the new government. When the alliance government came into power, many of its supporters, leaders, and sympathizers strongly believed Sajjala—who was involved in nearly every aspect of the previous regime—would be among the first to be jailed. In fact, several YSRCP activists and leaders who blamed Sajjala for the party’s massive defeat also assumed that he would surely face legal consequences. However, surprisingly, the alliance government has not taken any action against him so far. Despite his involvement in key policy decisions and alleged support of Jagan's ministers' corruption, no case has been filed against Sajjala except for one minor case related to the capital region.Does this mean Sajjala was never involved in corruption? Or are there existing proofs that are being ignored to use him as a political pawn? While the truth remains unclear, it is certain that Sajjala has remained untouched by legal action. Some YSRCP leaders claim that even though Sajjala moved from TDP to YSRCP, he has maintained close ties with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.Did former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy not know about this? Some say maybe not, while others believe even if he did, it wouldn’t have made a difference, as they claim Jagan was a political prisoner in Sajjala’s hands.Leaving aside Sajjala, the alliance government has also not taken any action against other key leaders of his so-called coterie.
No Action Against Sajjala's Inner Circle?
Sajjala’s close associates include Appi Reddy from Guntur, former minister Merugu Nagarjuna also from Guntur district, MLC Thalashila Raghuram from Krishna district, the Monditoka brothers, and former Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh. Among these, only Nandigam Suresh has any cases registered against him. While YSRCP was in power, Appi Reddy played a dominant role in Guntur district and was allegedly involved in various illegal activities, including irregularities in the Guntur Mirchi Yard. Similarly, as Minister for Social Welfare, Merugu Nagarjuna was accused of serious misconduct. When a woman accused him of sexual harassment, both YSRCP and TDP leaders allegedly worked together to shield him and force a settlement with the victim.Thalashila Raghuram, who is said to be very close to Jagan, reportedly committed large-scale corruption in mining activities. The Monditoka brothers also have a notorious reputation. Why hasn't the current government taken action against any of these individuals? Are they being protected by Sajjala himself? YSRCP leaders suggest that since these individuals are close associates of Sajjala, the alliance government is sparing them just as it spared Sajjala. In conclusion, Sajjala’s influence continues to hold strong. YSRCP workers, supporters, and sympathizers are furious, claiming that Sajjala is only safeguarding his own interests while ruining the party in the process.
